Alan Rozanski
Alan Rozanski began drawing gag cartoons in 2018, many of which have appeared in such domestic and international publications as Wall Street Journal, Saturday Evening Post, Reader’s Digest, Alta, Woman’s World, The Oldie, The Phoenix, 251 and more.
Years earlier, in the 1990s, Alan developed the comic panel “Moon Crazy” and the comic strip “House” – both of which were proudly rejected by some of the largest and finest newspaper syndicates in the nation. Those projects were both drawn using brush and ink, but in 2016 Alan decided to reboot his cartooning career and start drawing digitally. So, in order to hone his digital skills, he crafted a fun project called ’Raft’ whereby he selected one of his old gags, and redrew them in the style of several well-known and highly-talented cartoonists. To date, Alan has avoided any retaliatory legal action, so mum’s the word.
Besides gag cartooning, Alan does freelance cartooning for logos, greeting cards, coloring books, etc. One coloring book in particular was a project called “Greetings from Chemo Country”. Alan contributed three cartoons to this project (available on Amazon) – the proceeds of which are used to bring art and humor into the lives of cancer patients.
Between 2019 and 2022 several of Alan’s framed cartoons have been shown at art exhibits in Milwaukee and Chicago … The 2019 Beverly Arts Center “Drawn to Humor”; MARN Art+Culture Hub “2020 2.0: A Year in Transition”; MARN Art+Culture Hub “Catch the 22”; and Chicago’s The Tavern Club “2022 Spring Celebration” and “2023 Spring Celebration”.
Alan grew up in the Chicago neighborhood of Rogers Park, graduated from high school in Mosinee, WI, graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Stout, and worked for years as a Packaging Engineer and Graphic Artist. Alan currently lives in Milwaukee, WI with his wife Sheryl. His hobbies include playing ice hockey and guitar – rarely at the same time.
